Character Name: Nora

Canon: Nora: The Last Chronicle of Devildom

Age: 16

Appearance:
Nora is a solidly built sixteen year old, with a good deal of muscle. His right eye is red, while his left eye is golden. His silver hair parts down the middle, with bangs in front. Just behind the bangs, above his human ears, are hair tufts that are shaped like pointy dog ears. These tufts move in response to his moods, exactly the way a dog's ears move. His hair is varying lengths in the back, with two shoulder-length tails pulled back at the center of the back of his head. Below those is a third tail, pulled closer to the base of his neck. This third tail is longer, reaching to his mid-back, and moves in the same way a dog's tail does. For example, it puffs out when he's angry or threatening, curls in under his chin when he's confused or scared, and flips when he's annoyed. He also has very prominent upper fangs, with less prominent lower fangs. He is about 5'8" and fair-skinned. On his left upper arm he has an upside-down star tattoo with a bar code and serial number in the center.

At the time of his death he was wearing a long-sleeve black t-shirt, with a red military jacket over that, white cargo pants, and sneakers. He wears a red and black dog collar at all times. On his belt he has a pouch designed to hold his weapon handle.

Cause of Death:
He jumped into the black hole caused by his lack of control over his own magical power, was torn to pieces, and his soul/magical power fell like snow onto Earth and the demon world. He'd been trying to train so that he could control himself, but simply couldn't do it.

Impact of Death:
He's going to be pissed. His final words were how he wouldn't die, and that he was the greatest demon ever. Nora never takes things well, and his first reaction very well might be to try to hit something or pick a fight with someone. It's really all a cover to deal with how upset he is about it, but that's not going to stop him from freaking out. Once he's calmed down a little, he'll wonder if maybe this is what happens when you demand not to die when you're clearly committing suicide. Ultimately, with the power cap he'll assume that the majority of his power went to Kazuma or the Dark Liege. With all the big bad guys destroyed by the time he died, he won't necessarily have a lot of regrets, though he'll desperately miss everyone he left behind.

Character Info:
Nora grew up in the top of a tower, where there was a training facility that simulated the outdoors. It had trees and rivers and grass and a simulated sky, but ultimately it was still just a pretty cage. While there were other children living there (four others, to be exact), none of them were allowed to play with him, and were separated from him by a 12-foot tall sheer wall. While this initially didn't stop him from climbing up to see them, they all rejected him and he was left alone. The adults who came to visit him were not generally patient with children and tended to beat him a lot, and the guards who kept him from leaving were known to discuss whether or not he should ever have been born, not realizing that he could hear them from inside the walls.

As he grew up he became more rebellious, refusing to learn from the people trying to teach him. He used a cocky attitude to hide his own insecurities. As a child, he learned very quickly that being quiet didn't get him the attention he so desperately craved, and he was so terrified of loss that he didn't know how to make friends. He knew nothing about his own history for most of his life, only finding out much later that he had never had parents. When he was sixteen, the Dark Liege (head of the underworld and acting-parent to Nora) sent him to the human world, binding him in a familiar contract with a human named Kazuma. It was during his time with Kazuma, fighting demons that were terrorizing the human world, that he began to truly understand his own limitations and start working towards overcoming them. At first this was simply to prove to Kazuma that he wasn't stupid, but eventually it became about proving to himself that he was actually worth something. As he became stronger and more talented with physical combat, magical combat, and using his mind, Nora began to grow in confidence. He actually began to believe that he deserved to be alive, that he deserved attention and love just the same as everyone else.

However, shortly thereafter he learned that in fact, his fate was to die so that the universe could continue on. Determined to find a different way, he and Kazuma worked to defeat their opponents so that they could keep the world from ending without losing their friendship for each other or having to sacrifice anyone. Unfortunately, it seems fate can't be deterred for long. With the death of one of Nora's oldest friends (not that either of them admitted that until said friend was dying), Nora had to come to terms with his own abandonment issues. In the middle of a battlefield, he didn't even have time to properly mourn his friend before he had to leave to go finish the fight. It took him facing up against someone with nearly identical issues, but he came to accept that caring about people was important, and that he wasn't willing to give that up. He's still not good at being honest about his feelings, but he made an important first step at this point.

When he gets too scattered, mentally or magically, Nora's magic takes on a personality of it's own, quite literally. Because he's something like a physical manifestation of magic but also equally a physical manifestation of chaos, his magic is always just this side of in control. So what might be called his Id is particularly strong at these times, urging him to let go of his control and destroy the universe.

Nora has spent too many years being told that he's worthless, that he's a mutt, that he's stupid, and that he doesn't deserve to be alive for him to not have internalized that. Even his name is a pun on the Japanese word for “stray dog”. He's gotten far better about his own confidence though, in that he knows what he's capable of and he wants to be able to take care of himself and protect those he loves. He still has a hard time admitting that he cares about people, and tends to express all emotions as anger first, before calming down and being able to work through to the actual emotion that he's feeling. He wants to have friends, and desperately wants people to love and care about him, but he's still not so good about the idea of losing people. While he's not a particularly affectionate person on his own, he wouldn't mind affection from others, though he's incredibly likely to tsun about it. As a dog (literally), he tends toward a pack mentality, and because of his own mental and genetic (magical? Species? Something like that) issues he's a better follower than a leader.

Abilities (after Powercap):
--Nora's golden eye is capable of seeing magical streams, but only if he covers his red eye and really really focuses.

--He can cast minor elemental spells, but they do minimal damage, likely to singe and harm but not kill or maim (ie his water dragon will be the size of a large dog, instead of a two story building). He can also only cast five spells a day. If he tries to cast more than that, he'll pass out and be useless. His healing and barrier spells (aka most of his Eteru Magia or soul magic) won't work at all, barring the seal release to turn into a dog and his soul weapon.

--His superhuman strength will be cut back to that of a very strong human, instead of ridiculous boulder-wielding idiot level.

--He doesn't need his magic approved by an outside source anymore. The collar prevents him from becoming a black hole and keeps his soul attached to his Thusia-body, but with the powercap isn't necessary for nerfing his actual power.

--His dog form is now the size of a van, instead of a four-story building. He can maintain that form indefinitely (technically this is his natural form), but can't cast any magic while in that form. When he comes back out of his dog form, he's incredibly weary for up to twice as long as he was in that form, anything from simply being more tired to passing out for several hours, depending on what he did while in that form.

--His soul-weapon can only be manifested for ten minutes at the most. If he manifests his soul-weapon, he can't cast any other magic that day, and if he tries to, or tries to go over the limit with his weapon, he'll pass out and be useless.

Items Brought In:
Collar
Soul Weapon Handle (the handle forms a focal point for him to use his magic to create the rest of it)

Samples:

Introduce yourself in a few sentences.
I... what? I'm Cerberus, the greatest super-demon of them all! Stupid assholes, not even knowing that.

Describe yourself physically.
Why? Can't you see me? Take a fucking picture, because I'm too damn awesome for words.

What was your childhood like?
...I don't want to talk about it. Why are you hassling me about that? It's in the past.

Who is most important to you, and why?
...Me. I'm the most important, because I said so. It's none of your fucking business! I ain't gonna tell you! Shut up!

What's your biggest pet peeve?
What's a peeve? I don't have any peeves. And I don't like pets anyway.

Do you consider yourself an optimist or a pessimist? Why?
You're just using big words to confuse me aren't you? Well how about this, smarty-pants, I'm neither. Who's stupid now, huh?

Where, or how, did you learn your most important skills?
I kick ass no matter what. I guess you could say I got better once I was working with Kazuma, but that was still all me, no matter what anyone tells you. I worked my ass off training with that guy. He better not be taking any of the credit, either, because he did jack shit.

Do you think world peace is possible?
Hell no. How the hell would I kick ass if we had world peace?

Do you tend to argue with people, or avoid conflict?
Is that a trick question? I don't argue with people. I'm always fucking right.

What turns you on the most?
I... What? What does that mean? I don't understand...

Anything else you'd like to say?
Y'ALL BETTER BE READY CUZ THE GREATEST SUPER-DEMON IN THE WHOLE DAMN WORLD IS HERE, AND I'M GONNA BE KICKING ASS AND TAKING NAMES.
